If I had the time to do DIY accessories every week I would be so happy. I loooove making accessories. Probably more than I like wearing them. And, easy DIYs like this I would say are my favorite. I know this necklace won't last long but I have so many ideas of accessories in my mind and sometimes I just don't have the time or money to invest in expensive materials to make them. So, I just try doing something inexpensive so if it breaks I wont be heartbroken. This time I used paper straws, tape, beads (to add an extra touch), and embroidery thread.
1. This is magic tape that I painted with acrilyc and used for my ornaments back in Decemeber. Here is a picture from my Instagram of what I did. You can use any other color tape that you have.
2. Paper straw
3. Emroidery Thread
4. Scissors
5. Small Beads
6. Needle
7.Washi Tape
First I have to begin by saying that this took me probably 10 minutes to do. Start by cutting the straw with the length you want your pieces to be. I cut 3 pieces. Cover them with washi tape. You need 2 or 3 layers of tape so the straw pattern doesn't show through. Now, take the thin tape and cover the seam where the washi tape overlaps. Do the same thing with the rest of the straw pieces. Then, I separated the embroidery thread to use only 2 strands of the thread. I really like how delicate this gold thread looks. Thread the needle and insert 10 small beads. Now, pass the needle horizontally through the straw. Add 5 beads more and keep doing the same until your done with the last straw. Insert 10 beads more so the necklace is even. Now, measure a length good enough for your necklace so your heads fits through it and make a knot. And that's it! Hope you like it and come up with more easy ideas like this one.
