One of the things I enjoy the most doing is vector art. I love doing animals silhouettes. And, in general any kind of shapes, forms, lines etc. I also really like  when they have a lot of high lights or when they are very imperfect vectors. Having a model next to me everyday (my kitty) makes me want to do all kinds of designs. So, today I wanted to share a little of these things that I like doing. KITTY'S PERFECT LITTER BOX

If you have a kitty you probably know how annoying the litter box is. When I had my first kitty I had the box in one of the bathrooms of my apartment and I hated it. Then, I moved to an apartment that had a laundry room big enough and far from all the other rooms to leave the litter box there and close the door if I needed to. I had so much space in that room that I didn't fill all the shelves with the stuff I had. So, my boyfriend had a great idea of removing one of the shelves and putting the litter box  in the floor where the shelf was. I loved it. It was never on the way and it was so hygienic. At that time my kitty had an open box and even that one was awesome to have there. Last year, I moved to a smaller apartment and since Kalú (my first kitty) had passed away I threw out everything that I had from him, including the litter box. I wasn't planning on having another kitty. Two weeks later I got Loló. It was too hard to resist that cuteness. When I got home I looked everywhere in my new apartment to place the litter box and nothing seemed right. The idea of removing a shelf again was my only option.. but I have an OCD with open doors. And, unlike the other apartment the closet where I could do this was in the middle of the hallway. Since she was a baby and literally fit in my pocket, I left the box in that closet until I could figure out what to do. And, one day in one of my many visits to West Elm I found 3 pieces of rug samples that were $2 each and they were about the size of the width of the closet where I placed Loló's litter box. So, it gave me the idea to make a "curtain" to cover all the stuff I have in the closet and leave the box where it was. (It was not on the way and I liked that) I also got a closed box because for her. I didn't want my hallway smelling or seeing her stuff every time I passed by. Loló loves it and I do too. This is what I did:

THIS IS WHAT I DID:

1.I removed the bottom shelf in the closet to fit the litter box. I was lucky enough to find the rug samples that were about the same width of the closet. You can buy fabric and cut it to the size needed or if you have a one door closet like this look for samples like these, the size of the closet should be standard. 

2.I used another material to give more color and texture to the curtain. Again I had found this fabric in the left over isle of the fabric store I go for $5 . (And I could do around 5 totes with the amount of fabric I bought for that price) Cut strips to the width you want.

3.I made sure the width of both the strips and rugs were the same size before proceeding to sew them together. 

4.I sewed the strips and rugs with the sewing machine first (with my mom's help, I am not good with the sewing machine = I am an idiot with the sewing machine). Then I hand sewn with a different color to give it the hand made look and pop of color. 

5.Finish the edges by sewing or glueing them so it doesn't look messy.

6.I originally was going to use velcro to hang on the wall but decided to go with nails and hooks better so the paint didn't come off the wall. So, I used 2 hooks. One on each side of the top rug to hang it and still be able to move the curtain to take anything from the closet. 

Try it! It's a good option to place the litter box in a hidden place and a good excuse to add more color to your house!

MEET MY BABIES

I looove my kitties. 

This is Kalú. 

He was my first baby. And for some reason I remember his personality so different as people describe. To me, he was gentle, calm, loving and all the sweet things you can say about your pet. Unfortunately, he passed away in August last year. At the beginning of July I found out he had kidney failure. Sadly, the place that saw him didn't take it too serious and it took a week for him to get extremely sick.  I tried everything possible to keep him with me but a month after he was diagnosed he would not even eat, drink or 

look at me. I couldn't stand it seeing him so sick and decided to put him to sleep. I was really sad but I knew it was the best for him. I still love him and always will :) Of course after all this I said I would not have a pet again… 3 weeks after I fell in love with this cutie..Lolo

I was so excited to have a kitty. I named "him" after my grandpa and started all over again.. Buying the bed, blanket, food containers, toys..etc Of course everything was blue for my boy. A week after, the vet comes over to check if everything was ok and gladly everything is fine except he is a GIRL! I had always had my doubts about female cats but I loved her already. She is almost 6 months now and her name went from Lolo to Loló (nobody gets it, only me). This is her..(with my new toy in the back:))
