Turkey is probably one of my favorite things to cook. It is so easy to give flavor to this meat. I love using cumin or italian seasonings with it. This time I made burgers topped with Dijon mustard, tomato, avocado and basil. They came out sooo good.
Ingredients:
- Lean ground turkey 1.25 lbs (usually this is what a box of comes with)
-1 egg
-Bread crumbs ( usually I eye ball this but it was about 1/2cup)
-Half shallot
-1 tspn cumin
- 1/2 tspn dry thyme
-Salt and Pepper to taste
- 1 tbspn Olive oil
Dice and saute the shallot using 1/2tbspn of olive oil in a pan. When they're tender, move them out of the stove and let them cool for a little. Mix the ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, cumin, thyme, salt and pepper, then add the shallots to the mix (once they've cooled down). Form your patties and cook them in medium to high heat using the rest of the olive oil in the same pan you cooked the shallots.(don't wash the pan after cooking shallots) Flip the patty to cook it on both sides and bring the heat down to medium. Cook for 7 to 10 minutes and top your patties with your favorite ingredients. Usually I put them in a pita with red onions, spinach or arugula and tomatoes. This time I added organic Dijon mustard which was absolutely delicious, avocado (my favorite thing ever), tomatoes and basil.
